European representation
The Association for Decentralised Energy's membership of Cogen Europe, Euroheat and Power and the Smart Energy Demand Coalition allows us to actively influence discussions about sustainable energy at EU level. Find out more about the Associations that we work with.
Cogen Europe
COGEN Europe is the European association for the promotion of cogeneration. Its principal goal is to work towards the wider use of cogeneration in Europe for a sustainable energy future.
COGEN Europe is a Brussels based not-for-profit organisation created in 1993 to reflect the clear need for greater co-operative efforts at a European level to realise the full potential for cogeneration. COGEN Europe promotes the widespread development of cogeneration in Europe and worldwide. To achieve this goal, COGEN Europe works at the EU level and with member states to develop sustainable energy policies and remove unnecessary barriers to implementation. COGEN Europe is involved in a wide range of functions such as:
- Representing the interests of COGEN Europe members and of the cogeneration sector on the whole vis-à-vis the EU Institutions and other important organisations and institutions.
- Organising the COGEN Europe Annual Conference, Europe’s largest cogeneration event in the annual calendar.
- Participation in European projects.
- Coordination of internal expert Working Groups.
- Production of COGEN Europe publications.
The COGEN Europe network covers the whole of the European Union, Central and Eastern Europe, and also includes Japan, Australia and the United States. To find out more visit www.cogeneurope.eu
Smart Energy Demand Coalition
The SEDC is the European industry association dedicated to making the demand side a smart and interactive part of the energy value chain.
The challenges that European power systems are facing today following the energy transition can be surmounted only through the intelligent cooperation between consumption, distribution, transmission and generation, acting as equal partners in a holistic energy system; in other words, with the Smart Grid.
The SEDC's focus is to promote demand-centred programs within the areas of Demand Response, energy usage feedback and information, smart home, in-home and in-building automation that form the heart of the Smart Grid.
The SEDC's vision is a strong participation of the demand side in the European electricity markets, which will lead to the long-term goals of the Smart Grid: affordability, security of supply and reduced carbon emissions. SEDC focus their efforts in five areas:
- Interact with policymakers on behalf of the Demand Side Program industry
- Intelligence and information gathering for SEDC Members
- Giving members of the SEDC greater visibility
- Working with trade, financial and general media to raise awareness of Demand Response, feedback, smart home, etc.
- Providing opportunities for networking and partnering among demand side programme and smart grid companies
